Mark 10:32-52 'Follow the Leader"

Scripture: Mark 10:32–10:52

Mark 10:32-52 shows us the relationship between Jesus and His disciples from three different perspectives. In the first part of the passage Jesus demonstrates obedience to God the Father as He foretells His own death and resurrection for the third time in the Gospel. Contrasting with Jesus’ selfless act we see the brothers James and John more concerned about their own future instead of imitating the humility of our Lord. Finally we see what true compassion looks like as Jesus shows grace and mercy to the blind beggar named Bartimaeus. All told this passage paints a striking picture of how to and how not to act as a follower of Jesus Christ.
