Life implies growth. This is not only true in the physical world. It is also true in the spiritual world. There are all kinds of things that can hinder growth. Things like malnutrition or disease can easily keep things from growing. The Bible is full of passages that speak about the importance of Christians growing in their spiritual life. Spiritual growth depends on God’s power, just like the farmer cannot tell the seed that it has to grow; he can till the soil, bring water to plants, and tear out the weeds that threaten its health. This is where human responsibility joins with God’s work to produce Christian growth.
